The Way American Idol Works

So, I finally spoke to my sister. She filled me in on how the American Idol auditions work. First, you get a wristband that allows you to walk up to some booth and sing. The initial auditions are done by section. Her section is coming up. Second, if the person at the booth likes you, you get a "golden ticket" that allows you to perform in front of an Executive Producer. Third, the Executive Producer person decides whether or not you get to audition in front of the Idol Judges.

Now, that makes me wonder how some of those really bad singers make it to the last part. I feel a little ripped off now.
